When I first started Leaf & Lace, I offered my closest girlfriends a shoot to help build my portfolio. When I first asked Shalishah almost 3 years ago, she politely declined explaining she wasn’t ready and she felt like she needed to work on herself own self empowerment first. I totally understood. Self love comes in many forms and your own self love journey happens at your own pace and direction.
Fast forward to about a year ago and Shalishah sat me down and said to me “I’m not ready yet, but I’m ready to be brave. I want to do a shoot. Not now, but one day soon”. Honestly, just hearing that was music to my ears!! Over the last few years, I have watched this beautiful human reclaim her body and soul as her own. Her strength and confidence has blossomed into something powerful. Although it would be another 12 months before we did a Boudoir Session together, in that moment I was incredibly proud of her.
